Mr Green the gecko says:

 “Repel Pests Naturally”
When harvesting rhubarb stalks use the leftover poisonous leaves to make a spray to kill nasties such as aphids, caterpillars and stink bugs. Ask an adult to help you. Pour boiling water over chopped leaves, soak and then strain. Use within a few days.

HHPS Eco Food Garden

The Eco Food Garden aims to provide students at the school with the opportunity to be involved in hands-on learning using permaculture principles.

The Eco Food Garden Team was formed after 17 parents and staff attended a TAFE NSW permaculture course. The team is constantly evolving and we welcome new members.

The construction of the garden will begin next year after the new classrooms have been built.

Benefits to students:
• Connection to the natural world
• An understanding of where food comes from
• An alternative learning environment
• Sense of ownership

The Eco Food Garden hopes to further the education of students in areas of:
• Life cycles
• Ecosystems
• Organic food production
• Recycling of waste and materials
• Water conservation and management
• Caring for animals
• Companion planting
• Microclimates
• Soil conservation and improvement
